4/26 Session recap

Roveles, June, and Rosenkrantz decided to track down the two escaped bandits to find out if they had a hideout or reinforcements. They left Cyrus to defend Melicertes from the guards while they were gone.

Roveles followed the trail until nightfall, where he suddenly spied a small campfire. Leaving the non-stealthy folk behind, he crept forward. It appeared that there were only two bandits, and that they had no re-inforcements. One of them kept looking back, as if he had heard Roveles, but neither of them spotted him.

Roveles snuck back to the other two, and the decision was made to capture them for information. Rosenkrantz charged forward as soon as the bandits detected the party approaching. He slapped one in the head with the flat of his greatsword, concussing him. June shot an arrow into the other one's shoulder. Roveles, not to be outdone, loosed two arrows simultaneously, and both struck June's target in the chest, dropping him. Rosenkrantz clubbed his opponent into unconsciousness, and Roveles spent a few seconds trying to stabilize the man with three arrows in his torso. Failing at that, June cast a healing spell on the guy.

They interrogated the bandit in a friendly fashion, and he gave them some information relatively willingly. He said that he'd been with this band for about a month or more, and that they seemed to be making a slow circle in the areas between the towns. He said that he'd never seen a central hideout, but he had heard the leaders speaking of someplace they called the Hole. He figured the Hole was somewhere in the low, rocky hills between Dorset and Steadfast, and was willing to help the party find it. He said his name was Ben, and when asked why he was clanless, he said he'd been caught stealing chickens.

During the early morning watch, the other bandit woke up to find himself tied. Roveles spoke with him, and got confirmation on Ben's story. This guy, whose name turned out to be Joe, said he'd been with the group longer, and maybe knew a little more than Ben. He said that he thought there was a guardian at the Hole, and that from what he knew, they would have to go visit the Osborne farm before heading back to the Hole. He didn't know why, exactly.

Roveles said that if all these guys could tell him was the general location, why did he have to keep the bandits as prisoners. Joe, looking fearful, said that perhaps there was something at the Hole that he would be able to recognize once they got there, or perhaps if there were people there, they'd recognize him, and let the others in more easily.

In the morning, the discussion turned toward specific plans. Should they go back and collect Melicertes and the wagon before moving on? Would they head back to the Osborne's to find the Hole? Or would they continue on to Evansville?

Find out next week!

June, Roveles, and Rosenkrantz all get 125 xp, and Rosenkrantz gets an extra 25 xp for coming up with the campaign-appropriate curse : Tulgus' Balls!

I found myself saying Tolgas' Balls this morning. That's one catchy phrase.
