After a long discussion about it, the party returned to the wagon. Then there was more discussion about whether to let the captives go free, turn them in at town, or head immediately back to the Osborne farm. Eventually they decided to head to Evansville and just keep the captives mostly hidden, so that would-be vigilantes wouldn't feel the need to do something about known bandits being with the party.
They parted company with the hired guards upon entering Evansville, and found themselves a couple of beds at the Black Barrel tavern.
Rosenkrantz led the party (minus Roveles, who was watching the captives) to the local jail to meet the sheriff. She was a woman in her late 40's, and she seemed to remember Rosenkrantz for some reason. As he told his story, she listened patiently, interrupting only after he got tongue-tied and she already had the gist of things. She spoke to June and Melicertes about their emissary duties, and when June asked about how they could help out, she said they should ask Rinaldo.
Rinaldo had just stepped into the room behind them, and he immediately launched a verbal assault on Rosenkrantz. He called him a coward, and asked why he left town. A challenge was laid down : either Rosenkrantz joined Rinaldo's posse to hunt down some ogres, or Rinaldo would publicly declare Rosie a coward. Needless to say, the party joined behind their new companion.
The posse met in the morning, and headed south towards the last known location of the ogres. Roveles then tracked the ogres south further to a ruined tower surrounded by young trees. The party then set up an ambush for when the ogres came out at night.
The ensuing battle was brief, but none of the posse were killed, and all eight of the ogres were dispatched. June and Roveles both received crushing blows from the ogre's greatclubs, but lived to tell the tale. Inside the tower was just a single large room with the scattered treasure the ogres had collected. After that, the party divided loot and headed back to town.
